Coaching is available to all whether you are an absolute beginner or a hopeful Olympian. Coaching in general is located at the Summerhill facility but provision can be made for any venue.

Jim's Experience
Jim Conroy began shooting in the late 1960’s becoming National champion in 1967.He continued this trend for the next twelve years. The summit of these achievements has to be the participation in two Olympic Games ,1976 Montreal ,1980 Moscow and Olympic Coach in 1992 Barcelona. He stopped competing around 1984 to concentrate on the development of Carbofast , the Archery Stabilisation system.

As a result of the experience gained on the international scene Jim worked with all the best Irish Archers starting off with Willie Swords, Hazel Green(Coached by Tom Shakespere) and Mary Vaughan in the 1980s incidentally that trio represented Ireland at the Moscow and Los Angeles Olympics respectively.During the late 80s and early 90s Jim began coaching Keith Hanlon and David O’Brien and between those two archers they went on to dominate the national scene setting new records in every category.Keith Hanlon was the first Irish Archer to break 1300 using a metal handle designed and manufactured by Carbofast(Emerald Star). In 1992 Jim went to the Barcelona Olympics as Coach to the National Team where he supported another Irish great Noel Lynch.

In recent years the compound bow has become very popular with Irish Archers originally designed for the purposes of hunting it is now very prominent on the Irish target scene. Jim has embraced the compound to no lesser extent, he is now coaching a group of Archers from the Summerhill and Drewstown clubs names that will start to appear at the head of affairs are Andrew Cosgrove already a National Junior Champion with a personal best of 1317, second at the National Senior Indoor Championships, John Smith a very promising Junior, John Reck, Alan Gibney all recently shooting personal bests of over 1250 and Sean Heary who secured a place on the team for the Beijing Olympics.

After 40 years in the sport Jim shows no signs of losing interest as long as there are Archers asking questions Jim will endeavour to find an answer.
